Mikkeller Beer Celebration
Code of Conduct

Mikkeller Beer Celebrations bring together volunteers, employees, partners, contributors, and guests to celebrate craft beer and the Mikkeller community. To ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for everyone, this Code of Conduct outlines essential Mikkeller policies, procedures, and requirements. It applies to Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen (MBCC) as well as all current and future variations of the festival (collectively, MBC).

We aim to create a welcoming and fun environment where craft beer and community come together safely and respectfully. The code of conduct complements Mikkeller’s existing policies, which should be consulted for detailed guidance. The latest versions are always available on the Mikkeller website.

Diversity, Equality and Inclusion

At Mikkeller, diversity, equity, and inclusion are core principles guiding our community. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered to participate fully. We focus on, but are not limited to, the following aspects: gender identity, nationality, ethnic background, sexual orientation, age, and disability, as well as religion and pregnancy or parental leave.

Discrimination, harassment, or exclusion of any kind has no place at MBC. This includes treatment related to pay, benefits, roles, responsibilities, or participation in events. Mikkeller celebrates individual differences and actively works to foster an environment of dignity, respect, and fairness.

Harassment and Bullying

MBC is committed to maintaining a community free from harassment and bullying. Harassment includes unwelcome verbal, physical, or visual conduct based on characteristics such as sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality, ethnic background, religion, age, or disability.

We actively address hidden or systemic barriers that allow harassment to persist. Any individual found engaging in harassment or bullying will be held accountable.

MBCC Reporting Procedure

MBC encourages everyone to raise concerns safely, confidentially, and fairly. Reporting is open to volunteers, employees, partners, and guests, and covers behavior or incidents that do not align with this Code of Conduct, including but not limited to:

  • Harassment or bullying
  • Health and safety issues
  • Misconduct by volunteers, employees, brewers, or guests
  • Violations of Mikkeller policies, including DEI and Anti-Harassment & Bullying policies

3.1 On-Site Reporting

Concerns may be reported directly to a Volunteer Captain for guidance or assistance with on-site issues. Look for people wearing “Volunteer Captain” t-shirts.
MBCC also provides designated Safer Space areas and staff to guide you - look for the “Safer Space” signs and t-shirts.

3.2 Whistleblower Procedure

For serious, confidential, or legal concerns, Mikkeller provides a Whistleblower channel, which can be used anonymously. Examples include:

  • Serious violations of laws
  • Attempts to conceal serious issues
  • Other matters that may have occurred or are likely to occur

You can submit a report through the Mikkeller Whistleblower Form.
For on-site issues requiring immediate attention during MBC, always use on-site reporting first. The Whistleblower channel is not intended for day-to-day festival logistics.

3.3 Process and Protections

All reports, whether on-site or via the Whistleblower channel, are handled seriously and fairly. Individuals reporting concerns, as well as those facing allegations, are entitled to confidentiality, a fair and impartial process, and the right to respond.

Reference: All reports are handled in accordance with Mikkeller’s Reporting Grievance and Concern Procedure

Behavior that violates this Code of Conduct may result in one or more of the following:

  • Removal from MBC events or activities
  • Refusal of entry or ban from future events
  • Disciplinary or remedial action for volunteers, security, or staff

Adhering to this Code helps ensure MBC remains a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable celebration for everyone.

Mikkeller remains dedicated to creating an inclusive, respectful, and safe environment. We welcome feedback and commitment from everyone involved, ensuring equal opportunities and a healthy, enjoyable experience for all participants.
