The rumours have been flying all over Copenhagen and finally it can be confirmed: Guide Michelin has a crush on the smørrebrød (open face sandwiches) from restaurant Selma. Last night Selma was awarded with a Bib Gourmand – making it the first open sandwich restaurant ever to be bestowed with this honour.
The Bib Gourmand highlights restaurants that serve high-quality food at a reasonable price.
Chef Magnus Pettersson founded Selma two years ago and last year he teamed up with Mikkeller and reopened in new surroundings – of course with a large variety of Mikkeller beer on tap.
“We are very humbled to receive such recognition after having been open for such a short time. It’s a great achievement for the entire team. And of the Danish smørrebrød which traditions we honour with our own modern take. We are looking forward to being even more busy then we already are.”

Guide Michelin has visited Selma several times last year. Magnus Pettersson himself talked to an inspector just after the summer and the guide put pictures from three different visits on Instagram. “We have been looking forward to this night for a long time now, so we are very proud and relieved that the wait is finally over. I’m sure we will be celebrating in the restaurant tomorrow.”
